Project Summary: Berens

Project Title: Ivy Genomics-Based Medicine (G.B.M.) Project – Stage I

Mike Berens, PhD

  • There is a need to move from a cohort-based, trial-and-error approach to glioblastoma therapy to individual patient-based, predictive treatment planning.
  • The Ivy G.B.M. Project is a consortium of nine US institutions, led by the Translational Genomics Research Institute, working collaboratively to molecularly profile 40 xenograft models of human glioblastoma in which they will test a wide spectrum of targeted therapies. Investigators aim to discover patterns in the tumor profiles that can be used to predict which therapy is best for which tumor.
  • Results will lead to a pilot study utilizing alignment of molecular profiling of glioma patients’ tumors to xenograft models to select treatments for their recurrent tumor (Stage II of the Ivy G.B.M. Project).
